إذا كان علي أحمد باكثير هو رائد التحديث في الشعر العربي المعاصر من القرن العشرين، فهو أيضاً لا يقل ريادية وإبداعاً في مجال المسرح الشعري والنثري على حد سواء. تلك المسرحيات التي كتبها باكثير في مرحلة التأثر بالأعمال المسرحية في مصر وبالمسرحيات الأوربية المترجمة وتجاوز حدّ التأثر والتأثير لاستقلال الهوية الشخصية في أفكاره وإبداعه.
ويعتقد الباحث أن هذا العطاء الثري في المسرحيات التي كتبها باكثير سواء أكان يعبر عن الواقع الحضرمي، أم يستوحي فيه الأحداث التاريخية أم تعكس مناحي الحياة الاجتماعية والسياسية وغيرها كل ذلك يستوجب منا النظر في الأعمال المسرحية عند علي أحمد باكثير وتقصي ذلك بالوقوف مع كل مسرحية كلٍ على حدة.لما لها من أبعاد ومميزات وخصائص فنية مستقلة بذاتها.وكذا الكشف عن البناء الدرامي وعناصره وخصائصه الفنية في مسرحية (حبل الغسيل) ومدى تحويل النص من (الكلمة) إلى (الفعل)
Abstract
Thesis Summary: If Ali Ahmed BaKathir was the pioneer of Arabic modernization in contemporary poetry in the twentieth century, he's not less pioneer innovator in both poetic and prosaic drama. Those plays written by BaKathir in the stage of influence with plays in Egypt and those translated from Europe; he has exceeded this influence to the independence of personality in his thought and innovation.
The researcher believes that these rich works written by BaKathir whether they express the Hadhrami realism or inspire the historical incidents or reflect social and political issues, all that require us to look inside dramatic works of Ali Ahmed BaKathir and search them individually for their own artistic independent elements and distinctions. Also exploring the dramatic characterization and its artistic elements and distinctions in 'Clothesline", a play, and the extension of the change of script from (WORD) to (ACTION).
