أدّت المدارس الأهلية والحكومة أدوا را فعّالة في نشر اللغة العربية وتطورها في بلاد نيجيريا قديما وحديثا، ومع كون المدارس الأهلية، قبل مجيئ المستعمرين، تقليدية في مناهجها وأسلوب تعليمها تطورت العربية إلى حد انتاج العمل الأدبي بها، وفي أوائل القرن العشرين ظهرت المدا رس النظامية كما ظهرت المدارس الحكومية، فمنذئذ، وبعد استقلال نيجيريا، تحسنت أحوال اللغة في هذه المدارس ومع ذلك لايزال هذه اللغة تعاني عدة مشاكل. يهدف هذا البحث إلى دراسة الحالة التى كانت اللغة العربية عليها حاليا في المدارس الأهلية و الحكومية في الديار النيجيرية، فتنكشف لنا إسهامات هذه المدارس في نشر اللغة العربية وتطورها، ونتعارف على مشاكلها فنقترح لها حلولا،ونجعل ذلك نبراسا نستضيئ به في معرفة مستقبل اللغة العربية فى الديار. تواصل البحث على أن حالة العربية اليوم في المدارس الأهلية في نيجيريا جيدة، وفي المدارس الحكومية متأسفة .
وأن تشجيع الحكومة النيجيرية لتعليمها، و اعترافها بشهادة مدارسها الأهلية، و إعادة النظر إلى مناهجها عامة ليواكب تيارات العصر الراهن مع تعاو ن الأفراد والجماعة والحكومة المحلية والدولية لحماية اللغة العربية من أي خطر ووباء، تجعلها تحيز المكان المرموق اللاحق بها بين اللغات العالمية في نيجيريا.
Abstract
Private and Public schools have contributed immensely to the growth and development of Arabic Language in Nigeria. Even though the method of teaching the language in the private Arabic school before the advent of the colonialism in Nigeria was informal, Arabic developed to the extent of being used to produce literary works. In the first quarter of the twentieth century, formal private Arabic schools, as well as the public ones, were established in the country. From then, especially after the independent of Nigeria, the situation of Arabic schools is changing for the better. That notwithstanding, these schools are still encountering problems. The aim of this study, therefore, was to examine the current situations of Arabic language and its problem and prospects in Nigerian private and public schools vis a vis its growth and development. The study concluded that while the case of Arabic in Private Schools in Nigeria is perfect, it appears dismal in public schools. It is therefore recommended that with the governments’ recognition and support for Arabic schools and programmes and adequate review of Arabic curricula, Arabic will attain the greater height in Nigeria.
