للتربية دور كبير في مواجهة المخاطر والكوارث الطبيعية من خلال مناهجها الدراسية، سواء عن طريق التربية الوقائية أو التربية البيئية، وعلى الرغم من أن جميع المناهج الدراسية لها دور ومسؤولية في تنمية مفاهيم الكوارث الطبيعية وكيفية مواجهتها إلا أن لمنهج الجغرافيا ومنهج العلوم الدور الأكبر من بين بقية المناهج نتيجة ارتباطها المباشر بالطبيعة وتأثيرها على الإنسان، ويمكن تناول الكوارث الطبيعية وكيفية مواجهتها بمداخل عدة أهمها المدخل التكاملي، كما أن هناك أساليب وطرق متنوعة لتدريسها من خلال المناهج الدراسية المختلفة.
