Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the plants located next to the Mellah Valley, which has the ability to cope with the pollution that occurs, hexavalent chromium. The results showed that there was a significant amount of hexavalent chromium, which determined the plant at 9.2 mg / kg and the soil at 35 mg / kg, classified as hazardous, which has a negative impact on the environment. in place and on the one hand. Another major pollution phenomenon is the pollution of groundwater by this pollutant. The main source of this contamination is the effluent discharged by the tannery of the valley, which contributes negatively to the high degree of pollution without an effective mechanism to reduce this pollution. This problem requires the immediate intervention of the authorities to reduce tannery waste in order to protect the environment of the Oued Mellah.
