Abstract
The phenomenon of foreign fighters is not new. Throughout history, many foreign fighters have traveled to foreign countries to join the fight for which they have a bond of sympathy or ideological attachment. Of those foreign fighters who return home, many are killed in action, and some may travel elsewhere. Returning foreign fighters represent a major security threat to their countries of origin
