Abstract
The effect of aqueous extracts of the vegetation of Setaria verticillata (L.) P.Beauv on the germination and growth on two types of wheat varieties namely Hadhramout 3 and Cleanson in the four different concentration of 0.0%, 5.0% 10.0% and 15.0% were studied. Ten seeds of these crop were germinated in the petri-dishes and 5.0 mL of the extract was added with three replicates in each treatment. The measurements were taken for seed germination percentage, germination speed, hypocotyls and radicle elongation. The results showed that Cleanson was significantly higher than Hadramaut 3 in seed germination percentage and high concentration decrease the seed germination percentage for both wheat verities. Hadramaut 3 shows the best speed germination compare to Cleanson. There is a proportional ratio between the concentration and the germination speed. Cleanson give the best hypocotyls and radicle elongation compare to Hadramaut 3. It can concluded that high concentration of Setaria verticillata inhibit seed germination percentage hypocotyls and radicle elongation and increase Seed germination speed for both Hadhramout 3 and Cleanson.
