هدفت الدراسة إلى إبراز المساواة في النوع الاجتماعي في التعليم وتحقيق التنمية المستدامة، والعلاقة بين التعليم والمساواة في النوع الاجتماعي، ودور التعليم في تحقيق الهدف الخامس من أهداف التنمية المستدامة (المساواة بين الجنسين)، وتقديم توصيات ومقترحات تعزز المساواة في النوع الاجتماعي في التعليم بما يحقق التنمية المستدامة، وتوصلت الدراسة إلى أن المساواة في النوع الاجتماعي هدف رئيس من أهداف التنمية المستدامة، والتعليم من أجل التنمية المستدامة هو البوابة الرئيسة لتحقيق مبدأ المساواة بين الجنسين، ومن الضرورة إيجاد الفرص والآليات والاستراتيجيات التي من شأنها تحقيق المساواة في النوع الاجتماعي في مجال التعليم، إضافة إلى ضرورة التغلب على الصعوبات والمعوقات التي تزيد من التمييز على أساس النوع الاجتماعي في التعليم، كما أن أهداف التنمية المستدامة لا تتحقق إلا من خلال تحقيق المساواة في النوع الاجتماعي، وأوصت الدراسة بالأخذ بالمقترحات والتوصيات التي أوردتها الهيئات والمنظمات الدولية والأممية، على أن يكون التعليم في مقدمة أي برنامج تنموي لكونه بوابة تحقيق جميع أهداف التنمية المستدامة والتي من بينها المساواة في النوع الاجتماعي.
