يحاول هذا البحث أن يتعرف على أهم أنشطة المسجد والأدوار الاجتماعية التي يؤديها المسجد في المجتمع من خلال الأنشطة الموجودة بالمسجد، والمهام والوظائف التي يقوم بها جماعة المسجد في المجتمع الليبي _ مدينة زليتن نموذج _ بوصفه تنظيما اجتماعياً، من خلال إبراز دوره في تحقيق تماسك، وتضامن أفراد المجتمع وإحساسهم بالمسؤولية تجاه العديد من القضايا الثقافية والاجتماعية والسياسية. وقد إستندت الدراسة إلى استراتيجية منهجية تهدف إلى تحقيق ما ترمي إليه، وتمثلت في المنهج الوصفي التحليلي مستخدمين المسح الاجتماعي عن طريق العينة في تحليل البيانات وتقديم الاجابات حول تساؤلات الدراسة المطروحة، هذا وقد إنتهت الدراسة إلى مجموعة من النتائج التي توضح أهم الأدوار والانشطة الاجتماعية للمسجد ومهام ووظائف جماعة المسجد، بالإضافة إلى بعض المؤشرات التخطيطية التي يمكن أن يستعان بها في تفعيل دور المسجد الاجتماعي.

This research attempts to identify the most important social activities and roles played by the mosque as a social organization, and the tasks and functions that the mosque community performs in the Libyan society; the city of Zliten as a model, by highlighting its role in achieving the cohesion and solidarity among the members of the society as well as promoting their sense of responsibility towards many cultural, social and political issues. The study was based on a methodological strategy for achieving its goals. It was represented by the descriptive analytical approach using the social survey through the use of sampling technique to analyze the data and to provide answers to the questions raised by the study. The study ended at some results that present the most important social roles and activities of the mosque and the jobs and tasks of the mosque community, in addition to some planning indicators that can be used in activating the social role of the mosque.
