إن الانتقال من نظام التعليم التقليدي والذي يعتبر المعلم محور العملية التعليمية وبالتالي فان وظائفه محددة وثابتة إلى نظام التعليم الالكتروني E- Learning والذي يقوم على مبدأ هام وهو الوصول بالتعلم للمتعلم بغض النظر عن المكان والزمان وعليه يتطلب تحولا جذريا في ادوار المعلم المعروفة إلى ادوار ووظائف حديثة في ظل التعليم الالكتروني.
وهنا يتحتم على جهات الاختصاص العمل على تدريب المعلمين على التزود بمهارات التصميم التعليمي التي تهتم بكيفية إعداد البرامج التعليمية والمناهج الدراسية كما يجب على معلمي التعليم عن بعد الإلمام بكل المستجدات والمستحدثات التربوية وكيفية عرض المادة بأسلوب ممتع للطالب.وان بيئة التعليم الالكتروني تتطلب دراية كاملة وفن مهارة التعامل مع الحاسوب وإمكاناته وخدمات شبكة الانترنت وكيفية توظيفها من قبل المعلم والمتعلم ، لأن بيئة التعلم الالكتروني تعد بيئة تعلم مادية لها مكوناتها ومواصفاتها وإعدادها فهي عبارة عن فصول يتم تجهيزها لتدريب الطلبة على استخدام جميع وسائل التعلم الالكترونية من أقراص مدمجة وكتب ومقررات الكترونية والاتصال عبر شبكة الانترنت تحت إشراف المعلم الفطن الذي يقدر ثمن المعلومة والذي يعي بأنه كل يوم لا تزداد فيه خبراته فانه يتأخر سنوات وسنوات ولهذا كان لزاماً إن نوظف التقنية في المجال التربوي والتعليمي حتى نصل الى المستوى الذي يتطلبه التعليم الالكتروني.
