لقد أثارت قضية تجديد الخطاب الديني جدلاً كثيراً في المجتمعات الإسلامية، فتبنى فكرة التجديد العديد من الدارسين، ورأوا أن عملية تجديد الخطاب الديني ضرورة حتمية، لصعوبة مخاطبة الأمة باللغة الفقهية الرصينة التي صيغت بها المتون العلمية والتي لا يقدر على فهمها إلا طلبة العلم، بينما يصعب فهمها على كثير من الناس، مما يستلزم خطاباً يراعي فيه التغييرات التي تطرأ على الحياة كما يراعى فيه العرف، وخاصةً أن بعض المفاهيم الدينية قد تسبب في كوارث عديدة منها كارثة الإرهاب.
وآخرون رأوا أن مصطلح التجديد ارتبط بدعاةٍ أرادوا هدم كلِّ شيء، وطمس الهوية الإسلاميَّة، ومعظم حديثهم يرتبط بالغرب والسعي إليه وتقليده، فما الحاجة إلى تجديد الخطاب الديني؟ وما دوافعه وضوابطه؟ وما تأثير هذه الدعوة على المسلمين؟ وما مستقبل دعوة التجديد؟ وما موقف المسلمين منها؟
تهدف هذه الورقة للإجابة عن هذه الأسئلة وغيرها، حتى يتسنى التمييز بين التجديد المنضبط الصحيح والتجديد المنحرف.

Others saw that the term renewal was associated with preachers who wanted to destroy everything and obliterate the Islamic identity, and most of their talk is related to the West, seeking it and imitating it, so what is the need to renew the religious discourse? What are his motives and controls? What is the effect of this call on Muslims? What is the future of the call for renewal? What is the position of Muslims on it?
