Yousef Abuzir holds a PhD in Computer Engineering and Applied Sciences from Ghent University in Belgium. He is a researcher, and a full professor at Al-Quds Open University (QOU), Palestine, He has taught in many universities: Ghent University in Belgium, Birzeit University and QOU University in Palestine. Currently he is the head of Libraries and Information Technology Department and Erasmus+ ICM Coordinator. He worked as Dean of Technology and Applied Sciences Faculty at QOU (2012-2019) and Head of Computer information Systems Department at QOU for three years (From 2008 to 2011). He is a coordinator for academic mobility for staff and students in Erasmus+ (ICM) Program at QOU and work as a monitor for the SEnDIng project. He served as the Project coordinator at QOU as a partner in the ROMOR project by Erasmus+ (2016-2019), He worked as referee and Content consultant in E-Learning Intervention in the Palestinian Curriculum Project by Belgian Development Agency and a coordinator in the Ministry of Higher Education and other educational institutions. He worked as a coordinator for RUFO Project, FP7 Project coordinator at QOU, Coordinator for Open Digital Space for the Mediterranean Project (e-OMED) and educational expert in Avicenna Project (Tempus). Abuzir is well known for his researches in Automatic Thesaurus Construction, Information Retrieval, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Mining, and Expert systems, Natural Language Processing, Big Data, e-learning, Cloud Computing and Advanced Document Management. Abuzir's research has resulted in four books and more than 50 journal articles, conference and book contributions. He is a frequent keynote speaker at international conferences and has been invited to participate in thought leadership conferences organized by AMIDEAST and USAAIDS. Abuzir is the recipient of several awards including the UNESCO - PEACE Program Scholarship 1997 for PhD Program at Ghent University, Ghent, Belgium. He granted the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) Staff Exchange Fellowship Program 2004 at KNOU (Korean National Open University) and the Marie Curie Fellowship (2008). Award of Active Referee in The International Arab Conference on Information Technology -ACIT’ 2011. He participated with different studies related to social science with the cooperation of Anadulo University, Turkey. He participated in ROMOR Staff Exchange Fellowship 2018-2019. He served as a member committee and a referee in many conferences and Local and international journals. He is Editorial Board of Palestinian Journal of Technology and Applied Sciences (PJTAS). He is the general chair of the International Conference on Information Communication Technology and 2012 (ICICT’2012). Dr. Abuzir also is a member in the program Council and Scientific Research Program at QOU.
