Jordan has been recognized as Middle East’s third most industrialized economy in competitive industrial performance index (CPI). Jordan’s industrial sector suffers from a high turnover rate that negatively impacts production capacity and quality (Abu Jadayil, 2011).The annual turnover rate in Jordan’s industrial sector was 20.6% in 2017. Turnover in 2017 was 15% for females and 20.5% for males, meaning that females were 5% less likely to leave their jobs than men. The effect and embedded cost of turnover on companies’ operations varied according to their size. In Jordan, turnover is particularly significant for semi-skilled employees, who have an annual turnover rate of 67%. Salary and benefits are among the most reported reasons for turnover. This huge turnover possess a great challenge to businesses in the industrial sector in the form on time and cost of replacement.

Three normal key drivers for turnover are found in all parts and workforce sizes: (1) pay and advantages, (2) work progression and profession advancement, and (3) workplace/work conditions. The most widely recognized explanation behind representative turnover is pay, and despite the fact that businesses comprehend that the average cost for basic items in Jordan is high and compensations are scarcely enough to cover their workers' needs, monetary conditions in the locale keep managers from improving their workers' wages to facilitate their financial circumstances. According to a report by Ministry of Commerce (2018) the highest turnover in Jordan Industrial sector has been observed in mining and salt extraction sector (26.4%). This is followed by the engineering, electrical and information technology sector (24.8%).
