تبوء أحمد شوقي مكانة مرموقة في مجال الشعر والأدب نظراً لعطائه الغزير والمتنوع على ما يقرب من أربعين سنة، فلم يكن شوقي أميراً للشعراء فحسب بل جمع بين جملة من المواهب الابداعية، وربما يعود ذلك للسنوات التي قضاها مبعوثاً في فرنسا، فقد أُتيح له الاطلاع على آداب تلك البيئة وتعرف على أشكال أدبية جديدة وخاصة في مجال المسرح والرواية. ولعل القارئ الفاحص لأعماله الأدبية المتنوعة يدرك أن أحمد شوقي قد بذل جهوداً مضنية واستنفد كل طاقاته الهائلة في اطار التعبير الشعري والمسرحي والروائي على حدٍ سواء.
ويسعى هذا البحث من خلال هذه القراءة النقدية وتحليل قصيدة (أبا الهول) الكشف عن ملامح الخطاب السردي فيها، بدءاً بعنوان النص الأدبي بوصفه يشكل قيمة دلالية تكشف عن النص برمته وانتهاءً بالكشف عن تقنياته في الخطاب السردي . أما منهج البحث في هذه الدراسة فهو المنهج التحليلي الذي يقوم على تتبع النص الأدبي في بنيته الداخلية.

Ahmad Shawqi got an outstanding place in the field of poetry and literature because of his great and varied productions for around fourty years. Ahmad Shawgi was not only poets Laurate and leader but he got several talented ingenuity and this is may be because of the years that he spent in France where he had an access to the literature of that society and he knew new literary forms, especially novel and drama. The reader of his different literary works realizes that Ahmad Shawqi worked hard and he did his best in fictional, dramatic and poetic writings. This research paper intends to discover the countenances of the narrative speech through a critical reading and analysis of the poem (Aba Alhawl). It begins with the title of the literary text as it has an indication value reveals the whole text; It ends with discovering the techniques of the narrative speech. The methodology of this research is the analytic method, which follows the text in its inner construction.
