تعد صعوبات القراءة أو «العسر القرائى» من أكثر المشكلات التربوية خطورة، فعادة يبدأ التلاميذ القراءة فى الصف الأول الابتدائى، وفى أحيان كثيرة قبل ذلك، ويستمر اعتمادهم على القراءة خلال جميع مراحل الدراسة، وتعنى صعوبات القراءة قصورا فى فهم المقروء، أو إدراك ما يشتمل عليه من علاقات بين المعانى والأفكار أو التعبير عنهما، أو البطء فى التلفظ أو النطق المعيب أو النطق الخطأ للألفاظ.

Reading difficulties or “dyslexia” are among the most serious educational problems. Usually students start reading in the first grade of elementary school, and often before that, and their dependence on reading continues throughout all stages of the study. Reading difficulties mean a lack of understanding of the reading, or awareness of what it includes It includes relationships between meanings and ideas or their expression, or slowness in articulation, defective pronunciation, or incorrect pronunciation of words.
