كان المسلمون مهتمين للغاية في كتابة القرآن الكريم منذ عهد الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم ، والعديد من المكتبات الإسلامية والعراقية التي احتفظت بأعداد كبيرة من المصاحف والتي تعد تحفة فنية وجمالاً ومكتبة الأوقاف في الموصل هي احدى المكتبات حافظت على عدد كبير من النسخ الذهبية المطلية من القرآن وهذه النسخ هي نفسها ثروة فنية بالإضافة إلى ثروتها الثقافية.

Muslims were very interesting in writing the Holy Quran since the time of the Prophet (Mohammed) (MABH) , many Islamic world and Iraqi libraries maintained at large numbers of Quran which they are a masterpiece of art and beauty and The library of endowments in Mosul maintained a large number of gold gilded copies of Quran and these copies are themselves an artistic wealth in addition of their cultural wealth .
