ان عملية التعلم تعد من المرحل الضرورية في حياة الطالبة فهي لا تقتصر على المادة العملية فحسب وانما ايضا الجانب التربوي والتثقيفي لكل جوانب الحياة وكل هذه العناصر تعمل تقويم شخصية الطالبة وتحديد مستوى الانجاز الدراسي .
لذا فان مهارات التعلم والاستذكار هي من اهم مراحل عملية التعلم للطالبة وتعتمد على ما تكتسبه الطالبة من معلومات معتمدة على المادة المعطاة لها خلال الدرس وطبيعة العمليات العقلية للطالبة تستطيع من خلالها ان تبرمج ما حصلت علية من مادة والاحتفاظ بها في مخيلتها للاستفادة منها في الامتحان لذا فيوجد اختلاف بين الافراد في عملية الاحتفاظ بالمادة العلمية لوجود فروق فردية بينهم في العمليات العقلية وبالتالي سيؤثر ذلك في عملية الانجاز الدراسي .
ومن خلال ما ذكر سابقا تتجلى أهمية البحث في محاولة التعرف على مستوى مهارات التذكر والاستذكار ومستوى الانجاز الدراسي لدى طالبات بعض كليات جامعة بابل وكذلك التعرف على الفروق في مستوى المتغيرين في الاختصاصين الانساني والعلمي لكليات جامعة بابل .
