كانت الجامعات ومكتباتها، وما تزال رائدة البحث العلمي، وسباقة إلى كل جديد في المجتمع، وليس هناك من جهاز أو مؤسسة جامعية أكثر ارتباطا بالبرامج الأكاديمية والبحثية للجامعة مثل المكتبة.
وتحاول المكتبات الجامعية مسايرة التطور في تكنولوجيا الإعلام والاتصال ، والاستفادة منها في تخزين واسترجاع المعلومات ونشرها، من خلال دورها المستقل والمتميز في تقديم خدمات نوعية ومتجددة، وتمكين المستفيدين من الوصول للمعلومات والبيانات المخزنة إلكترونياً عبر نظم وشبكات المعلومات.
لكن واقع عمل المكتبات الجامعية العربية يشير لعدم امكانية أي مكتبة توفير احتياجات مستفيديها في ظل انفجار المعلومات، مما يفاقم من أزمة البحث العلمي في الدول العربية. ولذا فإن التعاون بين هذه المكتبات في ظل البيئة الرقمية يشكل أحد الآليات للرفع من كفاءة البحث العلمي بالجامعات العربية.
ويستعرض البحث مفهوم البيئة الرقمية وأهمية الاستفادة من امكاناتها في تعزيز التعاون بين المكتبات الجامعية، وأثر ذلك في تطوير البحث العلمي بالجامعات العربية، مع الإشارة إلى نماذج عالمية وعربية.

Abstract:
The universities and their libraries were and still the pioneers of scientific research, and they are attracted to every new in society. There is no institution or university institution that is more connected to the academic and research programs of the university, such as the library.
University libraries are trying to keep pace with the evolution of information and communication technology, and benefit from it in storing , retrieving and disseminating information through their independent and distinctive role in providing quality and renewable services, and enabling users to access information and data stored electronically through information systems and networks.
But the reality of the work of Arab university libraries indicates that no library can provide the needs of its beneficiaries in the light of the explosion of information, which exacerbates the crisis of scientific research in the Arab countries. Therefore, cooperation between these libraries in the digital environment is one of the mechanisms to increase the efficiency of scientific research in Arab universities.
The research reviews the concept of the digital environment and the importance of benefiting from its potential in enhancing cooperation between university libraries, and its impact on the development of scientific research in Arab universities, with reference to global and Arab models.
