إنَّ ذا البحثَ يستقي فكره من شجاعة الشجعان من الرِّجال الأقوياء، والفرسان. الذين قد حظوا بالثناء الجميل من النبي محمد ﷺ: «الشَّدِيدُ الَّذِي يَمْلِكُ نَفْسَهُ عِنْدَ الغَضَبِ». وهذا يستلزم من الشخص أن يخوض اختبار القوة الذاتية الداخلية النابعة من صميم الذات، والتي مصدرها تأنيب الضمير عند اقترابه من الخطوط الحمر خارج دائرة الأخلاق، الواقف بصلابة أمام هجمات الشهوات النَّفسية.
ولئن سكت صوت الضمير أقبل حينئذ الوازع الديني بكلّ شجاعة ليوقف هذا المسيء عند حدِّه، ويرغمه على الانصياع لصوت الحقِّ ونشيد الفضيلة. الضمير حسب تصوري هو ما يخفيه الشخص في عمق ذاته، من الالتزام بما هو صحيح، وتجنب ما هو قبيح. وكأنه جرس التنبيه، أو شرطي المرور الذي يحدد مسار العبور، فيسمح لمن له حق السير بالمرور، ويمنع في الوقت ذاته من لا حق له في ذلك ويوقفه، والأخلاق حديقة غناء يحيط بها من كل جانب سور من الأشواك وهي الشهوات روى أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه عن رَسُول اللَّهِ ﷺ: «حُفَّتِ الْجَنَّةُ بِالْمَكَارِهِ، وَحُفَّتِ النَّارُ بِالشَّهَوَاتِ».
لكن الإنسان قد يفشل في هذا المسير لأسباب منها قلة الصبر، وجهله بعواقب الأمور، حينذاك يحتاج إلى معين فلا يجد خيرًا من الوازع الديني ولا بديلًا عنه، وكم من دليل يبرهن صحة قولي.

Whoever is satisfied with these desires falls into a pit that is the fire, and as for the one who endures misfortune, he has accelerated the pace towards his desired goal, which is self-realization, leading to a feeling of contentment and eternal bliss. But a person may fail in this path due to reasons such as lack of patience and ignorance of the consequences of things.
