تقوم فكرة هذا البحث على كيفية التعامل مع اللغة وذلك باعتبارها هدفا يسعى المتعلم في طور الدراسة إلى اكتسابه والتمكن من استعماله في جميع تعاملاته، وفي نفس الوقت هي وسيلة لفهم النصوص التعليمية في جميع مواد الدراسة، و تتمثل نقطة التحول في مسار التعامل مع اللغة في "متى تتم عملية الاكتساب ؟ ومتى تبدأ مرحلة الانتقال إلى مكانة الوسيلة الأساسية في نقل المعارف والأفكار والتعبير عن المشاعر والانشغالات؟ " .
