Dr. Yaman Walid Kassab is an assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and currently the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) programme co-coordinator as well as convener for many courses. He obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) at Ajman University of Science and Technology, UAE, Masters in Clinical Pharmacy at Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan and PhD in Clinical Pharmacy at University Science Malaysia (USM). He served as a Full-Time pharmacist in community pharmacy in UAE for 3 years before joining academia and his working experience contributed significantly to his teaching, a good balance between theory and practice. He has experience in various areas; academic, teaching, practice, research and administration. He pioneered the establishment and development of clinical pharmacy at the undergraduate and post graduate (masters in clinical pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy) at Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS). To date he has 8 years of academic, research and supervision experiences. He has been a member of many international professional bodies such as International Association of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring & Clinical Toxicology in CANADA, British Heart Foundation in United Kingdom, Syndicate of Syrian Pharmacists, Malaysian Association of Education in Medicine & Health Sciences, Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society. He is actively involved in research and publication and has published more than 60 SCOPUS/ISI indexed research papers. Currently the research coordinator for both masters in clinical pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy programs and has supervised more than 50 research projects and 12 postgraduate research students. He also graduated (co- and main) 1 PhD and 2 Msc research students. He is also serving as an editorial Board member of several reputed international journals like “Frontiers in Pharmacology”, “Archives of Pharmacy Practice (APP)”, “Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Innovation (JMPI)”,” Annals of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Diseases”, “Updates in Public Health and Preventive Medicine”, “Archives of Depression and Anxiety”. Aside from teaching and training undergraduates and post-graduates, he has also delivered substantial number of lectures and talks in seminars and conferences, conducted clinical research, presented many papers in the area of clinical practice, locally and internationally. His research has included compliance and drug utilization, medication safety, pharmacy practice, extension of pharmacists’ role as prescribers and pharmacy Education.
